I grew up in Santa Rosa, California. I lived in San Francisco for a long time, where I became interested in child development. I attended City College of San Francisco where I received an AA degree in early Childhood Education at the time the Child Development Department at City College had an emphasis on sensory integration in children. This refers to the interaction between a person’s nervous system and their brain. I enjoyed learning about this factor in children’s development and try to incorporate it in my work with children. In San Francisco I worked for several years at Laurel Hill Nursery School, a parent cooperative. I have been at Skytown since 2008. I value the play-based philosophies of the programs. I also appreciate the strong communities that develop in cooperatives; they benefit both the adults and the children.
Outside of teaching I enjoy nature activities, bicycling and film history.
